The opening ceremony for the 2023 cohort of the Morocco Yiwu Business School was held both online and onsite in Morocco and Yiwu, Zhejiang province on Nov 16.

The Morocco Yiwu Business School is the first overseas branch of Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was first proposed 10 years ago, economic and trade and people-to-people exchanges between Yiwu and Morocco have increased in frequency.

In 2022, foreign trade between Yiwu and Africa reached 84.02 billion yuan ($11.69 billion), while trade between Yiwu and Morocco ranked among the top 10 African countries.

YWICC, considering the needs of Moroccan students, offers majors like international economics and trade, e-commerce and big data technology.

The Morocco Yiwu Business School has enrolled 26 students majoring in international economics and trade in its first phase. The students need three years to complete their studies, two years in Morocco and one year in Yiwu.

As a co-sponsor, Professor Mohammed Barkaoui, president of Mundiapolis University, said that the establishment of the Morocco Yiwu Business School is the beginning of an era of cooperation between universities in Morocco and China.

He expects the two colleges to carry out deep cooperation in student cultivation, teacher exchanges and scientific research and produce fruitful results.
