Foreign residents from nine countries and regions gathered to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Festival, in the Jimingshan Community in Yiwu on June 20.

Wearing traditional Chinese attire, they learned how to make and wrap glutinous rice dumplings known as zongzi, and various intangible cultural heritage experience activities were held on-site to welcome the Asian Games.

The activities included making bamboo dragon boats, crafting Dragon Boat Festival paper fans, playing pitch-pot, and playing cuju (an ancient Chinese football-like game).

"My Chinese name is Qiao Bai. Do you think it sounds nice?" said a resident from Colombia as he raised a freshly made bamboo dragon boat. He said that he has been in Yiwu for 15 years, and whenever there is a traditional Chinese festival, he participates in activities in the Jimingshan Community.

Jimingshan Community is one of the communities in Yiwu with the highest density of foreign residents and is referred to as the "United Nations Community." Since 2019, it has organized over 650 events, serving more than 35,000 people from 37 countries and regions.
