The Yiwu Intelligent Photovoltaic Industrial Cluster was recently listed as one of the core areas of the first batch of "Made in Zhejiang" provincial characteristic industrial cluster core areas and collaborative development areas, according to local media outlets.

It is the only provincial characteristic industrial cluster core area in Jinhua to be selected. A total of 20 core areas and 27 collaborative areas in Zhejiang made the list.

The "415X" advanced manufacturing cluster is a crucial pillar for building a global advanced manufacturing base in Zhejiang. It includes four world-class advanced industry clusters such as the new-generation information technology, 15 provincial characteristic industrial clusters for things such as high-end new materials, and a group of high-growth "rising star" industry clusters.

In recent years, Yiwu has continued to build an intelligent photovoltaic industrial cluster. Four of the top six photovoltaic component companies and the battery leader Aikosolar have built branches in Yiwu. Yiwu produces 83 gigawatts of photovoltaic batteries and 65 GW of components every year, accounting for over 33 percent and 25 percent of global battery and component production capacity, respectively.

In 2022, the output value of photovoltaic enterprises above designated size approached 90 billion yuan ($13.03 billion), and the value is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan in 2023.
