Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang provinces was among 97 Chinese cities to recently pass the green travel creation assessment by the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission.

According to the announcement, the proportion of green travel reached 70.39 percent in Yiwu, while the satisfaction rate of green travel services reached 95 percent.

In December 2020, Yiwu was identified as one of the first cities to develop green travel in the province and the only county-level city in Zhejiang to apply for the work. Since then, Yiwu has been giving priority to the development of public transportation, continuously improving the level of urban public transportation services in order to meet the diverse needs of citizens for green travel.

The city now provides various modes of transportation, including civil aviation, high-speed rail, urban rail transit, BRT, and conventional buses.

Yiwu currently has 226 regular bus lines with 1,301 operating vehicles to carry an average of 174,400 passengers every day. The city has built 58.2 kilometers of dedicated bus lanes, and the 107.17-kilometer urban rail transit Jinhua-Yiwu-Dongyang Line carries 20,900 passengers daily.
