Yiwu, active participant of CIIE

The Yiwu trading delegation, the only county-level city trading delegation in Zhejiang province, made orders worth over 600 million yuan ($86.03 million) during the fifth China International Import Expo from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai, local media outlets reported.

The Yiwu trading delegation was made up of 3,400 representatives from about 1,500 enterprises in Yiwu.

Wang Fangmao, chairman of the Yiwu High Quality Imported Commodity Chain Supermarket, starting making purchases on the first day of the expo. Wang said the company had a team of eight people to visit old business partners and negotiate on products from Europe. The team mainly looked for toiletries, food, and maternal and child products.

Wang has participated in every CIIE since the first edition. The company was named a provincial key import platform by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce during the CIIE last year.

Wang said that the company has been formulating a list of domestic consumers' favorite products through various channels since April and plans to purchase more high-quality products to serve customers at the CIIE.

The company made deals on imported goods worth more than 200 million yuan this year.

The Zhejiang Provincial Key Import Platform Promotion Conference and Import Procurement Signing Ceremony, a sub-event of CIIE, was held on Nov 6.

During the ceremony, Zhejiang Ruimai Import and Export Co Ltd signed an import purchase agreement worth 160 million yuan with Mootaa, a Portuguese household cleaning product maker.

Zhang Xuefeng, general manager of Zhejiang Ruimai Import and Export Co Ltd, said that the company would like to open up e-commerce sales channels across the country to take advantage of logistics and e-commerce development in Yiwu.
