Various kinds of stationery designed and made in Yiwu proved popular at the 2022 Yiwu Stationery and Gift Fair, which kicked off at the Yiwu International Expo Center on July 3.
The three-day exhibition was sponsored by the China Writing Instrument Association, covered an area of over 52,000 square meters, and included more than 2,500 standard booths for products such as stationery and office supplies, sporting goods, art supplies, books, creative products, and gifts.
On the opening day, DIY paintings for children displayed at the booth operated by Yan Jiahui attracted many visitors. Yan said that the raw materials for the paintings are natural and environmentally-friendly, including shells, ice cream sticks, grass silk, and sand.
A buyer surnamed Wang from Inner Mongolia is a returning customer of Yan's. Wang said that the DIY paintings for children are popular among parents and kids because they spur creativity in children and give them a sense of fulfillment.
Huang Changchao, director of Yiwu Stationery Industry Association, said Yiwu's stationery producers have worked together with Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com to explore online markets. So far, they account for about 20 percent of the domestic market.
