Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains deliver 300,000 TEUs

On March 10, a freight train carrying 84 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of clothing, groceries, machinery equipment, and plastic products departed from Yiwu West Station in East China's Zhejiang province and embarked on a 13,000-km journey to Madrid, the capital of Spain.

This was the 251st freight train trip between Yiwu and Europe this year. Since the service was first launched in 2013, Yiwu authorities have carried out 3,600 Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train trips, transporting 300,000 TEUs of cargo.

On the same day, Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe Trade Service Group and the Zhejiang affiliate of People's Insurance Company of China (PICC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, aiming to design customized insurance services for the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight trains.
