Yiwu, a county-level city in East China's Zhejiang province, is often dubbed "the world's supermarket" as it is home to the world's largest wholesale market for small commodities including accessories, zippers, socks, textiles, toys, and more.

The wholesale market, named Yiwu International Trade Market, has a floor space of 6.4 million square meters, 75,000 shops, and 2.1 million kinds of products on display. It is no easy task for merchants to quickly identify the products they are searching for given the wide selection.

To address this issue, the Zhejiang China Commodities City Group (CCC), the State-controlled company that operates the wholesale market, launched an online wholesale platform called Chinagoods in Nov 2020 and opened a related commercial livestreaming base this September.

The third and fourth floors of the Yiwu China Imported Commodities Mall house a 10,000-square-meter space dedicated to storing selected products for the supply chain of Chinagoods. The platform offers more than 20,000 kinds of quality products from the Yiwu market and annually sends more than 1,000 TEUs of products worth over a billion yuan ($156.5 million) to over 70 countries worldwide.

"We have over 100 staff members in charge of selecting quality products. Each of them has many years of business experience in certain product categories and understands the market quite well," said Wu Yuxin, a manager of the Chinagoods supply chain center.
