Merchants from China and abroad are flocking into the Yiwu International Trade Market after presenting a valid health QR code and undergoing a body temperature check.

As one of the largest small commodities trading hubs in the world, the market is a key global player in daily consumer goods.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and other economic uncertainties, the market in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has seen a surge in trade volume and is playing a significant role in stabilizing China's foreign trade. It is also restoring confidence in consumer goods production.

With over 2 million medium, small and micro-sized firms selling commodities into about 200 countries and regions every year, the city's total import and export value increased to 136.25 billion yuan ($19.58 billion) from January to June, up 1.6 percent over the same period last year, according to Yiwu customs.
