China Yiwu International Commodities Fair opens

The 26th China Yiwu International Commodities (Standards) Fair opened at the Yiwu International Exposition Center on Oct 21.

The fair, which came after Yiwu became a part of the Zhejiang Pilot Free Trade Zone, consisted of 3,400 exhibition booths for nearly 2,000 companies involved in hardware, electronic mechanics, daily necessities, office supplies, sporting goods, and clothing.

The event is expected to attract 1,800 domestic buyers, who are expected to negotiate trade partnerships with around 1,600 businessmen from foreign trade institutions.

Many livestream platforms were introduced during the event, which 12 internet celebrities used to present exhibits.

According to local media outlets, the internet celebrities have an average of more than 70,000 followers each on social media platforms, including some overseas platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

The followers come from many countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the Americas, Europe, and Africa.

The event also featured several conferences and ceremonies revolving around standards, and this is the first time an exhibition hall for "elegant accessories", which displays fashionable products such as gift packaging, shoes, and hats, has been offered.

The fair is expected to attract over 50,000 professionals.
