Yulian's work has now basically returned to normal. At 11 pm on July 12, Yulian was inspecting goods on the line for delivery to Russia. "These four reflective yarns were purchased from the International Trade City. They can be shipped to Russia after inspection," said Yulian.
He also mentioned that in the past, he had to purchase 8-10 containers of goods from the Yiwu market every month and send them to Russia. Although the orders this year have been reduced to less than 40 percent of their previous amount due to the pandemic, he noted that he was motivated and confident because China was the first country to resume work, so the market should improve quickly.
"In Ukraine, some people may not know that Beijing is the capital of China, but most people know Yiwu." Yulian said that small commodities from Yiwu are very popular in Ukraine, including hardware, general merchandise, and all kinds of tools and food. Every time he goes home, Yulian brings some brown sugar from Yiwu, fried dough twists with brown sugar, brown sugar shortbread, and other treats. He said, "Everyone knows brown sugar is good for their health, and they like to add brown sugar to their tea."
His daughter, who is now 30 years old, also lives in China. She went to school in Beijing in 2011 and studied at Beijing Language and Culture University and the Capital University of Economics and Business. She now has a master's degree. Yulian said that it was his idea to have his daughter study in China, and he hopes that she will also come to Yiwu after she finishes school. He feels that the business environment in Yiwu is very pleasant.
The Yiwu government is currently developing its import and export industries. Russia and Ukraine, close to China, are among the countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, making it very convenient for them to trade with China since the China Railway Express began operating. Yulian hopes to continue living in Yiwu with his daughter by his side.
