After an announcement from the China Film Administration, cinemas in Yiwu carried out strict epidemic prevention measures and fire safety inspections.

Yiwu Wanda Cinema, Poly International Cinema, and Yiwu Movie Capital all opened on July 20. Bestar Cinema will open on July 21, while Shangying International Cinema also plans to open soon.

On site ticketing has been suspended and visitors must buy tickets online. All audience members must wear masks, show their health QR codes and have their temperatures checked before entering the cinemas.

In addition, the attendance rate of each cinema must not exceed 30 percent of maximum capacity. Concessions will not be offered.

Except for A First Farewell, all other films are former blockbusters being re-released, such as The Mermaid, Goodbye Mr Loser, and Ne Zha.

Yiwu Wanda Cinema

Reruns will cost 20 yuan ($2.86) and new releases 25 yuan. The price will last for about a month.

Yiwu Movie Capital

Movie tickets usually cost between 18 and 28 yuan. However, due to a special preferential service provided by cinemas, many are currently being sold for just 3.1 yuan.

Low income families can watch films for free once or twice a year by appointment. Medical workers with a work permit can also watch for free before August 31, while those who supported Hubei province and carry valid certificates can view for free for the remainder of 2020.

Bestar Cinema

For the next month, members can watch reruns free of charge, while new films will cost 20 yuan. Medical workers who supported Hubei province can watch for free for a full year.

Poly International Cinema

Members can watch old films for 7.9 yuan, while the price for others is 9.9 yuan. The discount will last until August 31. The price for new films is subject to fees from third-party ticket purchasing platforms.

Shangying International Cinema

Members and medical workers with a work permit in Yiwu can watch reruns free of charge. The price is 13 yuan to watch other films. Others can watch any film for 13 yuan. The preferential price will last for a month.
