Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province will have the city covered with 5G network in two years, local media reported from the economic and information bureau on May 17.

According to a plan released in March, in 2020, 5G network will cover the downtown area, industrial parks, commercial premises, hospitals, exhibition halls, and Yiwu ports. As of the end of 2021, 5G network will connect both rural and urban areas, with over 3,000 units of 5G base stations installed and over 600 million yuan poured in.

Yiwu is the second batch of cities to pilot 5G demonstration zones in Zhejiang province and so far has over 1,200 5G units in service.
