A delegation led by Homer Davis, mayor of Montego Bay, Jamaica, visited Yiwu, East China's Jiangsu province on Sept 6.

The delegation met with Duo Jia, deputy mayor of Yiwu, and discussed deepening their cooperation in education, culture, and tourism.

Davis expressed appreciation for the city's hospitality and gave a thumbs up for the city's vigorous market economy, saying that Montego Bay expects to strengthen its strategic cooperative partnership with Yiwu.

The city of Yiwu houses the world's largest startup space for young entrepreneurs and offers various training programs related to e-commerce, said Duo when inviting Jamaican merchants to join the international communities in Yiwu.

Yiwu welcomes the city of Montego Bay to organize more small- and medium-sized enterprises to participate in Yiwu's expos and seek cooperation opportunities, added Duo.

In 2008, the two cities signed a memorandum of understanding to forge a partnership and facilitate exchanges in such areas as culture, education, technology, trade, investment, and industry.

In 2018, Yiwu's annual exports to Jamaica were valued at $90.9 million, up 20.39 percent year-on-year.
