The China Yiwu International Commodities Fair (Yiwu Fair) will add the word "standard" into its name, local media reported on Aug 22.

The name change has been approved by the central government and will take effect when the 25th Yiwu Fair kicks off on Oct 21.

The move is not merely word play but a milestone in the history of Yiwu Fair, the most influential fair for daily consumer goods in China, meaning the fair will make full use of standard operation and quality control to facilitate international trade.

At the upcoming 2019 Yiwu Fair, the 7,600-square-meter D1 Venue will exhibit the most qualified smart electric appliance enterprises and products that feature high quality, international standards, and consistent brand images.

Another change of the 2019 fair is that the previous 14 industry categories will be integrated into nine major categories, namely hardware, software, electromechanical facilities, sporting goods and outdoor leisure, stationery and office goods, toys, daily necessities, crafts and ornament, as well as electric and electrical appliances.

According to updates from its official website, the 2019 Yiwu Fair will set up 3,600 international standard booths at Yiwu International Expo Center. The confirmed guests include over 10,000 foreign merchants from 200 countries and regions.
