German consul visits Yiwu, discusses co-op
Christine D. Althauser, consul general of Germany in Shanghai, visited Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 3.
Ge Guoqing, chairman of the Yiwu Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, welcomed the German guests and gave an introduction on Yiwu, a city known as the "world's supermarket."
Althauser was impressed by Yiwu's prosperity and prospects, noting that she is expecting economic exchanges between the two sides to expand to other sectors and bring more mutual benefits.
In the first half of 2019, Yiwu has attracted seven German-invested companies and six representative offices, said Ge when speaking of the Sino-German cooperation in the city.
He added that Yiwu will bolster its efforts to optimize its business environment and support the development of German investors.
