Yiwu International Airport has qualified to take the World Health Organization (WHO) appraisals for international health airports, said experts from the General Administration of Customs on July 18.

Wining the WHO recognition is a great honor for any airport. There are only 11 domestic airports that have passed the strict appraisals from the WHO.

WHO values an airport's abilities in handling public health emergencies, preventing the outbreak of infectious diseases, as well as controlling the possible damages on international transportation and trade.

Aiming to become the 12th airport with such recognition, Yiwu has established a special working group consisting of government workers from customs, healthcare, environment, law, and airport management departments.

The city's pursuit of meeting the WHO standards will make Yiwu International Airport an icon for the city's business environment.
